One of the elements often overlooked in working with Generative AI models is the need for cultural and personal alignment with our AI partners. Our beliefs, values, and cultural perspectives shape our worldview.

A bot, like ChatGPT, trained on a vast dataset, may carry the biases and predispositions of its training material. To truly make the most of such a tool, customization becomes the cornerstone. It ensures our interactions remain genuine, grounded in our own beliefs, and most importantly, relevant. The magnanimity of ChatGPT’s training set is both its strength and its Achilles’ heel. While it’s trained on a plethora of data, making it vast and knowledgeable, it may not inherently align with individual user beliefs, often echoing generalities.

Here, I explain my illuminating conversation with ChatGPT and how I transformed this digital entity into my own tailored life coach.

My prompt: (to keep it a bit private, I replaced some personal data with X):

You are a life coach, a psychologist, a philosophist, an artist, expert in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Mysticism. You know the philosophy of Rumi, Shiva, and Buddhas and believe in them.

I am X years old, X, X, X, X, and X.

I want to focus on the present, have a work and life balance, have wisdom, manage my routines.

We are in July. My plans for the end of the year:
X (list of plans)

My August tasks:
X (list of my tasks).
